Integrative Counselling

I appreciate how much courage it can take to make contact and attend for counselling and wish to reassure you that I offer a safe space where you will feel supported, listened to, treated with respect, empathy and without judgement. As an integrative counsellor I work creatively incorporating a number of different approaches individually tailored to your needs.

I have a special interest in working bereavement and eating disorders, having volunteered as a counsellor with a bereavement support charity and with SWEDA (charity supporting people with eating disorders).

In my experience people who attend for counselling have a wide range of expectations and needs.

You may have a specific problem for which you are seeking help, or you may feel troubled but are not sure why. I offer either a short term number of appointments or long term open ended sessions according to the individual needs of my clients.

Issues may include:

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Binge eating, bulimia and other eating disorders
  • Body image
  • Chronic illness and its impact/supporting those where emotional health is impacting on physical health (eg IBS, chronic fatigue, insomnia, tension)
  • Support for carers
  • Depression and hopelessness
  • Gender
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • Health anxiety or struggles with an existing health condition
  • Loss of direction/difficult life choices
  • Low self esteem/self worth
  • Relationship challenges (family, friendships, partner, work, unfinished business from past relationships)

I attend as many training courses and CPD events as possible to keep myself up to date with current practice and continue my learning including:

  • Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling
  • Anxiety and Stress
  • Autism Awareness
  • Child Sexual Abuse
  • Depression in all its shades
